Lunar Eclipse Turquoise Band 2/20/08
Submitted by:
WIlliam L Reyna Jr at Fri Feb 29 20:58:01 2008 UTC
Image to the right of the original on the left is slightly enhanced to
show the "turquoise band" caused by ozone in the upper statosphere which
absorbes the red light reaching the moon.
Enhancement to the raw image was done with the "auto color" filter in
Adobe Bridge CS2.
Image was shot 4 miles north of Highland Mills, NY.
Canon 30D with an adapted Nikon 300mm f4.0 lens.
ISO 400, f4.0, 1/4 sec

Annular eclipse from Champaign, Illinois.
Nikon 300mm lens, 2x converter, no filter, 1/4000 sec.
Since the camera was pre-alligned for previous images,
I just had to try it without the filter.

Lowell Observatory and Mars
Submitted by:
WIlliam L Reyna Jr at Mon Sep 8 16:10:01 2003 UTC
This was the night I and some friends from the Salt Lake Astonomical
Society was supposed to view Mars through the 24" Clark Telescope
8/23/03 .
Didn't get to do any viewing because of scattered thunderstorms and
showers in the area.
Don't need any watermarks on those optics.
Nikon 8008 w/ Nikon 24-50 lens, 8 second exposure w/open flash.
