I've never seen NLCs from this area before, but I get the feeling this
might be one between the moon and Venus. Canon 30D, ISO 400, 18-55mm
lens, and autoexposure settings.

Aurora Patch

After missing the excitement of last night's show, I went out this
evening in hopes of capturing some northern lights with my camera. The
only display lasted 5 minutes beginning about 10:15pm PDT. This photo
shows the aurora patch over Mt Baker and Baker Lake in northwest
Washington State, USA.

5 minute tracked exposure of the Milky Way taken the evening of August
2, 2005. Notice the light pollution near the horizon from the larger
cities miles and miles south of my location (the Mt Baker Ski Area).
