5 minute tracked exposure of the Milky Way taken the evening of August 2, 2005. Notice the light pollution near the horizon from the larger cities miles and miles south of my location (the Mt Baker Ski Area).

Red sunrises are such a mixed blessing. They are so moving to the spirit, yet they bring cloudy and rainy weather to this part of the county...which is what we've had for the last two weeks. ...no aurora observing, no astrophotography, and no autumn color hiking...

My first attempt at photographing the 'deep sky' with a digital SLR (ISO setting of 1600). Several different exposures (from less than a minute to nearly 8 minutes) combined with Adobe Photoshop. Photographed through an 80mm f5.6 refractor piggybacked on a C-8...Losmandy G-11 motor driven mount.
