Cygnus constellation
Submitted by:
alain couture at Thu Jul 27 18:55:01 2006 UTC
The Swan also called the Northern Cross is just about overhead in the late evening in August and September in mid-northern latitudes. It`s brightest star, Deneb, is one vortex of the Summer Triangle, the other are Altair and Vega.
Because the Milky Way passes through it, Cygnus contains an abundance of interesting stars, clusters, and nebulae. The star clusters M39, NGC6940, Brocchi and the North America Nebulae wich lies a few degrees east of Deneb are easily visible.
Taken at the Portneuf wildlife reserve on 2006 July 19th.
Details: Canon 300D, 28mm lens at f/2.8, 800 ISO, 230 sec. `piggybacked on a motorized mount(EQ3).
