MY GOD...IT WORKS!!!!!

Submitted by: michel tournay at Fri Oct 26 08:39:01 2007 UTC

Have you ever wonder if the nice graphs on the net or softwares are good? A few hours ago I went outside to take pictures of the 17P Holmes comet and I tried to superimpose part of a graph from a program called COELIX from Jean Valli鋨es....WOW!...ITS VERY ACCURATE! So all the white dots (in circles) and the comet are from my picture and the circles, dates and trajectory are from COELIX. I blew up the "main course" to show, with 2 red arrows, the dates where the comet was (25th) and where it will be on the 27th. And low and behold the comet is right smack in the middle of them....that I took around midnight...on the 26th! I am impressed!

Enjoy!

CORPUSCULAR RAYS

Submitted by: michel tournay at Sun Sep 2 03:25:01 2007 UTC

Going to Montreal a few weeks ago, I saw nice rays from the top of a small cloud in front of me. Murphys law didn't apply that day...I did have a camera with me in the truck...accessible with one arm (while driving)

Last week, the sky was absolutely black on my way back to James-Bay. No cities from miles away! Time to have some fun with the sky! No telescopes, but only my camera gear! About 2 min exposure on 3200 ASA equivalent, 10.5mm fisheye f2.8 Can you spot Andromeda?

Enjoy!

NICE SOLAR HALO!

Submitted by: michel tournay at Wed Mar 28 15:17:01 2007 UTC

A few days ago, I was fortunate enough to witness a nice solar halo with a longer-than-usual parhelic circle. It took me a couple of pictures to capture it completely! The 22 and 46 degree halos where visible and possibly the 120 (with the red arrow) Hope I'm right about the last one, Les, help me!

LUNAR ECLIPSE CORONA?

Submitted by: michel tournay at Mon Mar 5 04:35:01 2007 UTC

Lots of clouds during yesterdays lunar eclipse, but suddenly a break in the clouds gave me the chance to see the end of it and by doing a long exposure, I could see a bit of a corona around the still-eclipsed moon!!!!! So I was "kinda" glad about the small clouds still present at that time! I also like the reflection of the moon showing where I could see the shadow at that time! Enjoy!
