Before Post Tropical Storm Frances: This brief pre-sunset cloud and light
show lit up the entire sky. Beginning later that night, Ottawa was drenched
by almost 130mm of rain. Image taken using a Canon PowerShot A30 set at f2.8
and 1/200 sec.

Looking southeast towards thunderstorm activity that would track well south
of Winnipeg. The anti-crepuscular rays seen in this image taken at 0257 UTC
on 13 Jul 04 though fleeting, were very distinct and extended across the

Visually, this aurora was a faint colourless band sitting about 10 to 20
degrees above the horizon with some movement and the occasional appearance
of a second band. This 15-second image taken using a Canon PowerShot A30 set
at F2.8 and ISO 400 reveals only faint additional colours.

Two images of a faint auroral arc noted on 13 Oct 03 low to the northern
horizon at Lac McAuley, Quebec (about 100km NW of Ottawa, Ontario).
The upper image is a 15 second exposure at f 2.8 taken at 0211:10 UTC. The
lower image -- also 15 seconds at f 2.8 -- was taken at 0233:30 UTC after
the activity had dissipated. (Canon PowerShot A30 set at ISO 200).

that was not visible to the naked eye, and only detected with the digicam.
