Lamont and Arago's Domes

Taken August 5th 2004. Located on the western shores of Mare
Tranquillitatis [just northwest of the Apollo 11 landing site], Lamont's
curious circular formation of wrinkle ridges is best seen at a low Sun
angle. Also benefitting from the low light angle are crater Arago's

The Gardner Megadome

Chuck Wood called this large formation the Gardner Megadome. It's

June 24 2004. The area between Sinus Medii and Mare Tranquillitatis is
host to some very interesting rilles, also known as rimae [singular
rima]. In the center of the photo is Crater Triesnecker with its network
of thin rilles to the right of the crater; above it is V-shaped Hyginus
rille; seen further to the right is the Ariadaeus rille. Single image;

A Different Kind of Northern Light

While waiting for clouds to move away from the Moon on June 29th, this
is what I saw in the northern sky. No, it's not a satellite or a plane,
