First shot in a line of many nice ones taken early on, about 9:15 pm and lasted decently until the light of the moon and the aurora dimming sent me home around 10:45 or so. 20mm, Iso 200, about 20-25 sec.

Among the very first few pics taken. It really caught our attention as soon as it was dark enough to see well.

This was the first pic taken with very good features and was the real kickoff because it was so noticeable to the eye as we waited for action. 20mm, Iso 200, about 20-25 sec.

It started right as soon as it was dark enough to see, about 9-9:15 pm, but the bright, full moon was somewhat of an influence.

Moon 8-28-04

This moon is about 24 hrs. from being full. It will be full at 9:22 pm CDT on 8-29-04. Taken about 10:00 pm with a 100-400mm lens at 400mm with a 2x extender. I stacked 13 images ranging from Iso 100 to Iso 400 and shutter speed of 1/50 to 1/100. I flattened and used unsharp mask to achieve this image. When comparing this image created with individual images taken, this image seems the more detailed. I have read about this method and it seems to work pretty well.
