GREEN FLASH

Submitted by: michel tournay S t Dec 13 0606:17:02 2003 UTC at N/A

I had to be in Africa in 2001 (for the solar eclipse) to realize that I could see the green flash phenomenon almost every day in my backyard, where I live, in James-Bay! We didnt see it in Africa but back home I had the chance to see it! We usually see it just before the sun hides itself completely. But occasionnally, we see it on a big part of the sun!

100 ASA film, 300 mm f2.8, a doubler and a 1.4X for a total of 840 mm (who ever said you could only put one adaptor!)

Enjoy!

LUNAR ECLIPSE NOV 2003

Submitted by: michel tournay S t Dec 13 1717:48:01 2003 UTC at N/A

On this one, I had to cheat a bit! The moon was too big to get in one frame,(before he bought a focal reducer!) so I took 2 pictures to make the end result. 9,25 in. SCT, 100ASA film, un-remembered exp. time...sorry!

Enjoy!

HOW BIG IS THE EARTHS SHADOW?

Submitted by: michel tournay T u Feb 26 1010:24:01 2004 UTC at N/A

Here's one I've always wanted to do: By over-exposing a shot of the may 2003 lunar eclipse, we get a more detailled shape of the earths shadow across it. By putting many of the same picture in a circular pattern, we can "see" how big the shadow actually is in the sky!

Enjoy!

BEST ERROR IN PHOTOGRAPHY YET!

Submitted by: michel tournay at Mon Nov 3 00:32:01 2003 UTC

Very dim aurora over a river..Ah, I'll let it go for a while...The 30 min. exposure revealed: a circumpolar effect, the red part in the aurora (not visible to the naked-eye!) and when a car passed by, shining its lights on the canoes, well we could now see them! It was supposed to be a black silhouette shot of canoes with an dim aurora...Hmmm! I wish I could do more "mistakes" on my other pictures!

Enjoy!

Here's another one of my favorite shots. Taken over the commercial center and the community center of Chisasibi, James-Bay, Quebec. It almost look like somebody diving down with his head hidden between his arms, trying to grab the teepee with his hands!

SPIRIT IN AURORA!

Submitted by: michel tournay at Sun Nov 2 23:43:01 2003 UTC

Here's one of my most popular shot! If you look closely, you can "see" a face in the aurora...probably mother nature!

For some people, northern lights are bad spirits! When they saw this one, they freaked out!
