a lot happening.

Most times clouds are just annoying for aurora watchers, but in this
case I think the picture would look a lot less interesting and
dramatic without them.

Aurora 29th October 2003
Submitted by:
Katja Gottschewski at Tue Nov 11 23:09:01 2003 UTC
This aurora almost looks like if it is upside-down, with red aurora
at the bottom and green aurora at the top. An unusual sight. Of
course it's not really one curtain, but two (at least). This was a
strong aurora, but I believe it would have been even better further
south. Here in Bodø, Northern Norway, the activity happened mostly in
the Southern sky.
Photo details: 20mm/f1.8, about 6 sec., Fuji ProviaF 400.

The aurora is really taking off now. There was even more pink visible
directly than on the picture - it was moving so fast that the film
didn't catch it. The 20mm-lens is still sufficient to catch the main
activity, but not long anymore...

This is the first in a series of pictures from a marvellous aurora
show here in Bodø, Northern Norway. The aurora was out early that
night, and I went out to take some pictures of the aurora in the
twilight. At this time, the aurora was still rather quiet.

the aurora fills big parts of the sky, and I don't know anymore where
to point the camera... And I still haven't cut down the exposure
time, shame on me...

The "Lofot Cathedral" with aurora
Submitted by:
Katja Gottschewski at Mon Nov 25 22:24:01 2002 UTC
Vågan church in Kabelvåg on the Lofoten islands, also called the
"Lofot Cathedral", is the biggest tree church of Northern Norway. On
Nov. 10, I played in a concert there. The night before I caught this
picture. The aurora was not very cooperative - it was either rather
faint or in the wrong place, but I wanted a picture with the church
and the aurora, and I got it. ;-) Maybe I can get a better one next
time I am in Kabelvåg. :-)

shapes later. Picture taken in Bodø, Northern Norway. Photo details:
