amazing how deep this eclipse was. Camera: Canon PowerShot A70, ISO 100.

November 9 lunar eclipse at it's deepest. The eclipse was well underway
by moonrise here, and in mid-eclipse by the time Luna has climbed above
the marine layer cloud. Camera: Canon Powershot A70, ISO 200.

I managed to capture this image August 30 between visitors while doing
a star party at the Dominion Astrophysical Observatory. Unfortunately,
Mars' low altitude and our humid weather conspire to prevent really
sharp images, at least so far. Telescope: 1.2M Cassegrain reflector.
Magnification: 80x at the coude guiding focus. Camera: brain-dead HP
215 digital. Single exposure processed in PS for brightness and unsharp

Low-altitude aurora photographed at 0644Z August 21 (2344PDT); I just
missed the ray display reported by others in this region around ~0600Z.
This glow persisted for the entire 2.5 hours of my observing session
without producing any further activity other than pulsing within the

This strong auroral arc formed directly overhead, and stretched from
below Lyra in the west, through Andromeda before tapering out in the
eastern sky. This arc rippled and flowed overhead for nearly 45 minutes
before slowly fading from view. Third night of auroral activity this
week...amazing for here in the Aurora-Proof Zone. ;)

Another photo, looking northwest. Although overall this was a
moderate event, I was amazed at the horizontal scale; over 100 degrees
is azimuth. For over two hours straight, there was auroral activity
somewhere along the north horizon. Camera: Nikon FE/Nikkor 50mm @ f/2.8.
