Corona over Northeast Michigan

As darkness fell on 29 October we were fortunate to have an area of clear sky over northeast Michigan. Activity quickly increased, building up to this spectacular corona. I got 4 frames before it lost its intensity. Minolta 800si with 18mm F3.5 Fuji Superia 800 @25 seconds. Image (c) B. Mckenzie/Natural Impressions

This active display was photographed in the month of May from the island campsite on Maquan. The red color on the foreground rocks and trees is actually the flickering light from our campfire which was picked up by the film during the 25 second exposure.
