Aurora in Stereo - Little Wall Lake, IA - Oct.21, 2001
Submitted by:
Stan Richard at Thu Oct 31 23:05:01 2002 UTC
First position yourself approx.2-3 ft from your monitor, relax your eyes and
stare at the line separating the images, slowly cross our eyes and you will
see one vertical line going to the right and one to the left. Keep crossing
your eyes until these lines meet up with the outside vertical lines and you
should be able to lock in on the 3-D effect. There is actually no
perspective difference in this stereo image so what you are seeing is a
blending of the aurora from each image creating a 3-D effect in the aurora
portion only. Good Luck and enjoy. Comments welcome:

Aurora in stereo pair - Little Wall Lake, Iowa - Oct.21, 2001
Submitted by:
Stan Richard at Wed Oct 30 19:15:01 2002 UTC
This one will test your eye coordination as it is a bit of a challenge
because of the horizontal aspect but you CAN lock onto it. First position
yourself approx. 2 feet from your monitor, relax your eyes and stare at the
vertical line separating the images, then slowly cross your eyes and you
will see two lines, one moving right and one to the left. Keep crossing
your eyes until these lines meet up with the outside vertical lines and your
eyes should then be able to lock onto the stereo image. When taking these
shots I was actually comparing some different films with the aurora and had
no intention of doing a stereo pair, I just happened to move the tripod to a
different spot when I reloaded the camera. Jupiter is rising above the
horizon at the right. Thanks to Dennis Anderson for reminding me I had this
pair of images. Good Luck and enjoy! Comments welcome:
