I was lucky on this shot because I dont know the guy who appear on the picture and he dont move during the 25 sec exposure ( surely he was amazed ;o) photo details : 28mm @ f 2.8 , 25 sec , fuji superia 800

Clearing Skies

Submitted by: Dominic Cantin at Fri Sep 20 22:40:01 2002 UTC

You have probably saw this picture as the " clearing skies " picture on APOD on july 26, 2002. You can see the overexposed Moon at right near Venus. At left you can see a lightning. It was verry amazing to see the stars and the lightning at the same time !!! Maybe a next time that will be with an aurora !? ( for Lyndon ;o)

Aurora vs the Moon

Submitted by: Dominic Cantin at Tue Sep 10 08:54:01 2002 UTC

This aurora was verry faint visualy trying to compete with the moon light but when I saw the picture , I was verry surprised and glad ! I only saw the green and the ray under the handel of the Big dipper in this aurora ! The lesson I learned from that : Always photograph auroras , even if they're faint ;o) photo details : 28mm @ f 2.8 , 25 sec , fuji superia 800 , july 20 , 2002.
