Some coronal holes are always observable on the sun. Displays of the aurora therefore might be seen regularly from high latitudes.

Am I the only watching for this?

Anybody think I should go ahead and drive the hour or so to watch for some lights??   Just wondering, any advice appreciated.

Hi Babyhobbes,

I`m watching also, but from near Akron  Smiley
I just hope something happens soon since we should be in a clear slot
for a few hours around midnight, but that means it will have to impact
early.

By most accounts, this CME seems to have the potiential to produce auroras over the next few hours -assuming the Bz smartens up and dives south.
Yes, if you haven't already done so, and you have clear skies, do get out there and have a look.
 Good luck everyone,

Darn clouds.  Where is everybody??  Usually I feel better reading about everyone else's sightings when conditions aren't good here.

I decided to have our Lear Jet fired up to fly South just to see this display. Then I remembered I didn't own a lear jet. Boy was I depressed.

Corona is still very intense above and rays still very visible here in Detroit.  Definitely looks to last awhile yet.  The early birds are already singing, won't be long till the first rays of the sun start overtaking the show.  Hope this persists for everyone to get a chance to see!
  Clear skies!

Yup, seeing the same thing here too. (course, I'm in Clinton Township soo.. ^_^)
Captured some of the first rays and energy bursts from the beginning of the event on my camcorder, then also of this corona later.
(Sony camcorder...Super Night Shot mode... slow framerate but still can tell the energy surges).
Very impressive ^_^

Just got in from watching here in Southern Wisconsin. There is no reason why the sky should have cleared, but it did. Pictures are in the photo area.

Hey Doug/WxNut..

I moved from southern wisconsin 2 years ago to Niagara falls NY.
I remember your name from the noaa milwaukee sullivan archived pictures section.

I Seen a very good show last night with blue corona to boot....incredible show!

BTW......was this picture taken from ottawa lake? : http://www.wxnut.net/aurora4.jpg
The artificial light on the horizon looks very familiar, as well as the lake setting.
