This morning an M2.5 proton flare occured in active region 11226 in the south-western part of the sun.
A fast full halo CME was observed in SOHO and STEREO coronograph images after the flare.
Most of the material is directed south and ahead of earth, but a substantial portion of the solar plasma could still reach earth in the days ahead.
The impact of the plasma cloud could happen as early as tomorrow evening, but more likely on thursday, June 9th.
If the CME is as fast as expected, middle latitude auroral activity can be expected.
Further updates as well as official watches or warnings will follow.

Hi all!

It seems, the CME arrived already at noon (UTC) today, but without much effects.
Maybe the solar wind data will improve slightly in the coming hours, but I would not expect much activity from this one any more.

PS.: Maybe there will be some NLCs out there instead of the aurora.
