Some coronal holes are always observable on the sun. Displays of the aurora therefore might be seen regularly from high latitudes.

Hi all!

STD just issued a "Middle Latitude Auroral Activity Watch"!
We are seeing the signs of a coronal hole based high speed solar wind stream influencing earth.
As a result, geomagnetic activity as well as auroral activity is on the rise.
We have already an ongoing G1 storm.
The activity may last for another 12 hours at a high enough level to observe auroral displays from mid latitudes.
Afterwards the aurora should be visible in nice displays in the high latitude regions only.
Clear skies!
