Middle Latitude Auroral Activity WARNING
Issued: 16:30 UTC, 26 September 2011
Solar Terrestrial Dispatch
www.spacew.com

Effects of a fairly strong coronal mass ejection impacting the Earth a few hours ago has the potential to produce periods of moderate to strong auroral activity over the European regions tonight. There is a chance (albeit somewhat decreased) of activity persisting into the night hours over North America. The disturbance is likely to be subsiding by then.
However, some episodic bursts of activity may still be visible at times over North America. The primary focus of this disturbance will be over the European regions, where fairly strong bursts of auroral activity may be seen well into the middle latitude regions, possibly being observed even from the lower latitudes.

Activity is expected to subside on 27 September, barring further energetic solar outbursts (which are possible).

End of WARNING statement
