Solar Terrestrial Dispatch is a primary forecast center for industries vulnerable to space weather activity. We have developed a set of software packages that are valuable to those interested in monitoring terrestrial and space weather activity in real-time. Our deluxe package is our Space Weather Information Monitor (SWIM). A somewhat less capable but still substantial software package that is more widely compatible with older Windows computers is our Aurora Monitor software. We are also providing resellers the opportunity to resell copies of our popular Space Weather and Radio Propagation Forecasting Course, both on CDROM containing a full complement of software, or delivered over the Internet as over 630 pages of printable curriculum in Adobe Acrobat Reader format.

We are presently examining the possibility of providing people with the opportunity of reselling either of these software products on a consignment type basis. The basic procedure would be as follows:

• The reseller would sign up and receive authorization to resell the softare.
• Each reseller would establish their own price schedule for the software, which could be distributed to customers over the Internet or on CDROM through the postal mail.
• When a customer purchases the software from the reseller, the reseller would logon to a special server and authenticate themselves. The server would in turn return a unique URL that the reseller would provide to the customer along with specific installation instructions that would allow the customer to download and install the software from our server. The URL would remain valid for about one week.
• If the customer purchases a product on CDROM, the reseller would indicate the name and address of the recipient after logging onto the special server. The server would then process the order and ship the CDROM to the customer using the resellers return postal address to give the appearance that the product was shipped by the reseller. An e-mail of the date of the shipment would be sent to the reseller at the time of shipment.
• The first sale made by each reseller would be provided free of charge. All subsequent sales would be billed to the reseller at a substantial discount over existing prices, allowing a substantial profit margin for the reseller. For example, SWIM distributed via the Internet might be sold to the reseller at a cost of $50 USD. If the reseller sells the software for $99 USD, the reseller would make $49 profit on each software package sold.

The advantage of this system includes no significant labor or shipping costs on the part of the reseller. We would ship the software for you and we would provide the download medium. The reseller would need to provide and maintain the web page that customers would use to purchase the software. The reseller would then simply handle the receipt of purchase requests and obtain authorization from our server to distribute the software. We would bill the reseller at a fixed rate per product sold, while the reseller would be free to adjust prices accordingly.

We would require each reseller to provide us with valid personal credit card information which we would use to verify that the reseller is of legal age. The credit card mailing address information would be used to return a confirmation code that the reseller would type in during the authentication process.
